One of the world’s biggest winter spectacles is visited by over two million people from all over the world who come to see the snow and ice statues that are on display at three sites in Sapporo City. Giant figures from history and fantasy mingle with elaborate sculptures of famous buildings up to 10m high. The festival also becomes a stage for the International Snow Statue Contest (Odori Site) with every year more than 10 teams competing from all over the world. The statues are impressive by day and magical by night and you can drop by whenever you like. There is also entertainment for children, with ice slides and a snow maze to keep them occupied.
